This is a single-layered Shioji Tsumugi. The color appears black, but it's a very deep dark brown. It's almost as dark as black. Shioji Tsumugi is a hand-woven, plant-dyed silk fabric that combines the softness of Yuki Tsumugi's raw silk with the color and luster of Oshima Tsumugi's mud-dyeing technique. Although it's a single layer, the fabric is sturdy, so it doesn't have a seat lining. It's domestically sewn (see photo 8). I bought it 8 years ago and I remember wearing it twice.
