This temple is the 33rd temple of the New Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage and the 11th temple of the Harima Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. It is located on Funakoshiyama and was founded in 728 AD by Gyoki, under the imperial order of Emperor Shomu. The temple has 12 halls, including the main hall, the Golden Hall, and the Yakushi-do Hall. It is a renowned temple of the Koyasan Shingon sect, with a tradition of ascetic practices and prayer spanning nearly 1300 years since its founding, and is affectionately known as the "Koyasan of the West." The bell in the main hall, a Hyogo Prefectural Important Cultural Property, has inscriptions indicating it was donated by the Akamatsu clan, with Gon-ritsushi Kakuyu as the principal donor, and dates back to 1369. The chief priest was absent, and the office was closed, so I only received a written goshuin (temple stamp). There was no explanatory document or goshuin bag.
