"Buena Vista Social Club" is a band formed by American guitarist Ry Cooder with elderly musicians from Cuba. The band's origin was when Ry Cooder traveled to Cuba and had a session with these elderly musicians, who were largely unknown outside of Cuba at the time. The album was released in 1997, and a documentary film was made in 1999. The title "Buena Vista Social Club" came from the fact that most of the participating musicians were members of a real members-only music club in Cuba in the 1940s. Although the band disbanded once, they were later reformed. This album, which makes everyone want to dance when they listen to it, became a worldwide hit, mainly among Latin music fans in the West, and a world tour was organized. A music documentary film of the same name was also produced by director Wim Wenders. Producer Ry Cooder aptly said, "Music is a treasure hunt... You dig and dig and dig, and sometimes you find something... It comforts you and remakes everything..." This CD is a Japanese edition, with a Japanese commentary booklet, containing 15 songs in total, and is in near-mint condition.
