Matsue Castle was built by Yoshiharu Horio, the founder of Matsue, over a period of five years, from 1607 to 1611 (Keicho 12-16). It is also known as "Chidori Castle" (Plover Castle) because of the beautiful irimoya-hafu roof, which resembles a plover spreading its wings. From the castle keep, you can see the town of Matsue in a 360-degree view. It was designated a National Treasure in July 2015. This model is based on the Doyusha JOYJOY Matsue Castle 1/500, with the stonework and other features sculpted using clay, urethane, etc. This is a diorama of the National Treasure Matsue Castle, surrounded by lush greenery.
