Compared to ebonite, which is commonly used for mouthpieces, crystal is a material that is resistant to wear and has less deterioration over time. Contrary to its appearance, it produces a very soft sound. It differs greatly in tone from metal, which is also resistant to wear. The opening is a #2, which is relatively narrow. With its narrow opening and my playing experience, it is a mouthpiece that, contrary to its appearance, is very well-suited for classical music. The ligature is about halfway between a soprano and an alto, so we recommend a ligature that can be adjusted in size (like a string or Silverstein).
