There are no cracks or scratches. Can be used on the floor or in a baby bed. When the power is turned on, you can select from 4 melodies, a "kerotto" (cheerful) switch, lights, and melody volume. It rotates slowly, and babies from newborn age and up will enjoy looking at it, making sounds, trying to touch it, and kicking at it ^ ^ The entire body has been wiped with alcohol, and the stuffed animal parts of the umbrella, which are attached with Velcro, have all been home-cleaned.
