Kilims are traditional flat-woven (tapestry-woven) textiles from nomadic peoples of the Middle East, such as Turkey, Iran, and the Caucasus. In tent life, they were mainly used as rugs, but because they have no pile, they were easy to use and were used in various ways, such as room dividers, futons, and storage bags. Unlike carpets, kilims are thin and light, and can be easily carried by folding them, making them an essential item for nomadic life. Passed down from mother to daughter by women, the colors, patterns, weaving methods, and composition reflect the characteristics of their tribes in ancient times. The beautiful colors and simple designs depicted in kilims each reflect the weaver's sense of style. Kilims incorporate the blessings of nature, such as plants, earth, sun, and water, and the desire for safety and security in daily life. Their rich sensibility is still fresh in modern life.
