They even called it a thawing plate boom on TV, haha. Of course, it's not a microwave, so it doesn't thaw instantly! It's designed to thaw naturally, but faster and with less dripping. It's said to be 9 times faster than natural thawing! Placing it on the sink or somewhere else that allows for further heat dissipation from the plate will speed up thawing even more! It's also effective for cooling down food, like for bento boxes. I personally don't recommend it, but it can also be used as a cutting board. There are individual differences, but it weighs around 420g, which is quite heavy. The 2mm type weighs 320g, so it's about 100g lighter.
