The seller is not knowledgeable, so the following is a reprint from articles found online: * Tsurumaru design * The back says "宗祖大師六百五十回忌紀念 大谷派本願寺" (650th Memorial of the Founder, Otani-ha Hongan-ji) * The founder of Otani-ha Hongan-ji is Shinran Shonin. * His death year was 1262, so the 650th memorial was in 1911 (Meiji 44). * A pin badge made for the 650th memorial of Shinran Shonin in 1911 (Meiji 44). The paulownia wood box is quite damaged, but faint characters can be seen on the surface. I cannot confirm what is written. The badge itself can be considered "beautiful" considering it is 110 years old. The text on the back is also clearly readable. The material is metal, but I believe it is silver. This is a used item and has been stored at home. Please purchase if you understand this. Thank you for looking.
