Daikou Furukawa (May 10, 1871 - 1968) was a monk of the Rinzai sect, Myoshin-ji school, and served as the 22nd Kancho (Chief Abbot) of the school. Born in Kamiyoshida Village, Chichibu District, Musashi Province, Saitama Prefecture (present-day Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture), his real name was Soutaku. He was adopted by his uncle, who was a monk, and entered the Buddhist priesthood. He received tonsure under Sosen Sakagami of the Myoshin-ji school, and later studied Zen meditation under the guidance of Roshi Koken Kobayashi and Roshi Shozan Ikegami. In 1952 (Showa 27), he became the 22nd Kancho of the Myoshin-ji school and actively engaged in missionary work, visiting various parts of the world. His gō (art name) was also Reinanshitsu. He is also said to have been deeply involved with the name of the Kyoto confectionery store "Kogetsu."
