I created a two-piece obi (a type of Japanese sash) from a beautiful, like-new fukuro obi (a formal type of obi). There are no noticeable damages or stains. The length of the waist wrap is 185 cm. The otaiko (the back "drum" part of the obi) is secured with Velcro, allowing you to adjust its size. The otaiko is attached with Velcro. It doesn't crease, and it can be stored in a tatoushi (a special paper wrapping for kimono), which is a great feature. Regarding the Obi Pillow Base: Since two-piece obis without fasteners tend to slip down, using a separately sold obi pillow base will prevent the otaiko from falling and provide peace of mind.
