This version, which appeared around 2008, has sleeves that are about 7/8 length, making it a shirt jacket that's perfect for the changing seasons, as you can roll up the sleeves once or twice for the optimal length. The OPERATIONAL DRESS UNIFORM (ODU) jacket is used by the U.S. COAST GUARD (USCG), a branch of the U.S. military. The U.S. Coast Guard is the largest and most powerful coast guard in the world, comparable in capability and scale to the navies of various countries. If you think of a U.S. military jacket made of this kind of ripstop material, you might imagine a BDU jacket with four flap pockets, but this jacket has only two chest pockets, with a pen holder in the left chest pocket. The flaps are secured with Velcro instead of buttons, giving it fewer tactical elements than a BDU jacket, making it more casual to wear.
