In an era without elaborate cakes, they were the perfect size for small, hand-held baked goods. You'll find these smaller cake plates in tea rooms in the Cotswolds.) A beautiful trio featuring vividly painted hollyhocks. Tall hollyhocks are a star of English gardens. They brighten up flowerbeds after the roses have finished blooming. I saw many of them blooming in the front gardens of the small villages in the Cotswolds that I visited in July 2023. This is a vintage piece from about 50 years ago. It's an old item, but there are no noticeable scratches or stains. It's a glossy and very beautiful piece. There is some color transfer due to aging and a slight indentation on the underside of the cake plate, but the glaze is well applied, indicating it's from the manufacturing process.
