Tomioka Hariko Sanbaso Monkey This is an old monkey figure from Tomioka Hariko, a folk toy from Fukushima Prefecture that has now disappeared. It's a unique and rare motif of a monkey wearing the "Sanbaso" costume from Noh theater, similar to what you might see in monkey performances. The simple construction and cheerful painting are somewhat pop-like, making the viewer feel happy. There appears to be a hole in the bottom, possibly for a support rod, but it's not present, so what you see in the images is all there is. --- It still looks pretty good at first glance, but it's an old piece, so it's being sold with some scratches and dirt.
