Both the radio and CD played with batteries, and sound was produced. However, for the CD, I only used the play and stop buttons; I don't know about the other functions. The sound quality is subjective and varies from person to person, but when I played a used commercial CD I own, the sound quality seemed normal. It's a speaker type, so the sound comes out directly, and I didn't use headphones. I only pressed the play and stop buttons, but the stop button felt like it needed to be pressed a little firmly. As mentioned in the title, it's from 2010 and is old. (Although sound was produced when listed,) I haven't tested all the functions, so it's not fully functional.
