The amount of rice and water is basically the same as when cooking in a rice cooker. It differs slightly depending on whether or not you have soaked the rice in water beforehand. We recommend soaking for at least 20 minutes. For one cup of rice, use 180ml of water and heat for 10-12 minutes. For two cups of rice, use 360ml of water and heat for 20 minutes. Heat at 500W. This pot can also be used as a rice container if you are not eating the cooked rice immediately. This product is made from traditional Iga rough clay for authentic flavor. We will perform the "medome" (sealing) process before shipping, so you can use it directly over an open flame. Avoid empty firing. The product we send to customers does not require "medome," but it has some water absorption, so you can say that the pot itself is breathing and alive. This is what gives it its flavor as you use it. Cracks (kannyu) will appear as you use it, but this is not damage (a defective product).
