Born to reflect that challenge and pride, this is an Old Noritake piece with the early Maple Leaf mark. This mark, used from around 1891 to 1910, is a sign of the very early days when Noritake began to seriously enter the Western market. There are few remaining, and it is a piece of an era that is considered special among collectors. A deep shape that rises gently, and a softly undulating border. After molding, each piece was carefully fired, and then the painters of the time took up their brushes, breathing life into the roses. The shades of the petals, the swaying of the leaves, the slight brushstrokes - - all expressions unique to complete hand-painting, which can never be replicated by machine. The thick gold trim that adorns the edge shines quietly each time it catches the light, enhancing the roses in the center*:✼.
