This is a handmade Noh mask from the Bingo region, used in Kagura, a traditional performing art. I received it from a friend's storage. The age is unknown, but it seems to be handmade by a local person. It's not refined, but rather rustic in construction. There are holes for tying a string, so it was likely worn for dances at festivals. It resembles the Noh masks "Ko-omote" and "Okina." I was displaying it, but my wife is scared of it, so I'm decluttering.
