[Material] Single piece of Fuji hinoki ✩ One corner is beveled, making it slightly easier to lift. [Good Points] ✩ I believe that a cutting board is best [unpainted], so I have finished it with a hand plane as a surface treatment to achieve that. The chamfered parts are also finished using well-sharpened blades. First, it is planed, then wetted with water to raise the grain, and then planed again after drying, so I think that the grain raising due to water when using it is minimized. Also, the end grain, which is usually difficult to plane, is also finished with a plane. This allows water to drain in the shortest amount of time without absorbing the grain or sanding scratches, minimizing the deterioration of the wood due to water absorption. ✩ Predicting the direction in which the wood will warp, and also taking into account the blade contact, it is slightly and gently shaped with an R-shape to match the individuality of the wood. This is also a technique that can only be done with a hand plane. ✩ No [sandpaper] is used in the production of the cutting board, so there is no worry of the knife being damaged by remaining abrasive grains or eating sandpaper dust. ✩ The rough sandpaper finish that is often seen recently, which looks smooth at first glance, becomes slippery when wet.
