Set of 4 small shell-shaped dishes from Fukagawa Seiji (Arita-yaki), "returned goods" made for export. The back is marked "HAND PAINTED," indicating they are hand-painted items from an older era. The soft white porcelain features an elegant shell form, with gold trim around the edges. The gold is remarkably intact, showing little to no peeling even after many years, and is in beautiful condition. Some dishes have lines, but they are not felt as cracks when touched, and it is unclear whether they occurred during manufacturing or over time. Please understand these are antique items.
