This is a very old wooden bowl, dating from the early Meiji period. It features a gold maki-e design of maple leaves and quail, with the rim also entirely gold. There is also a painting on the underside of the lid, which I believe is a rare design. The old wooden lacquerware feels light and fits comfortably in the hand, which is wonderful. I was told it was Wajima-nuri when I purchased it, but I'm not certain. Diameter: Approximately 12.5 cm, Height (including lid): Approximately 8.5 cm
