Thank you for viewing. This is an old Wajima-nuri (lacquerware) meal tray and bowls. The motif is a gorgeous nanakusa (seven herbs of spring) maki-e (sprinkled picture). The daikon radish and turnip are depicted in an exquisitely raised maki-e. This is a set of a superb spring nanakusa maki-e meal tray and bowls. The back of the meal tray is finished with nashiji (pear skin) lacquer, making it very durable. The bowls also feature nanakusa maki-e. A dandelion is painted on the underside of the lid, and delicate maki-e is also drawn on the outside. Size: Meal tray: 27.5cm per side, 3.5cm high Bowls: 11.8cm in diameter, 5.8cm high (approx. 8.7cm with lid) Condition: The meal tray has some paint peeling and small scratches on the legs.
