Known as the completer of wabi-cha (tea of the thatched hut), he is also called the Tea Saint. Along with Imai Sokyu and Tsuda Sokyu, he was called one of the three great tea masters of the world, and he had many disciples, represented by the "Seven Disciples of Rikyu." He also had a close relationship with Hirano Kanbeirito, a relative of Sueyoshi Magozaemon. His descendants continue as the three Sen families of tea ceremony. Sen no Rikyu also had a side as a close associate of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the ruler of the country, and had influence over many daimyo in the "Tea Ceremony Governance" that Toyotomi Hideyoshi inherited from his former lord, Oda Nobunaga. However, discord began to arise in his relationship with Hideyoshi, and in the end, he was suddenly ordered to commit seppuku. ◆Sen no Sotan (February 7, 1578 - January 11, 1659)◆ A tea master. His father was Sen no Shoan, the stepson of Rikyu's second wife, and his mother was Rikyu's daughter, Okame. He succeeded the Kyoto Sen family of Shoan. The 3rd generation of the Sen family.
