A magnificent bronze crab decorated gourd vase. Comes with a custom-made box and wooden stand. ◆Oshima Joun◆ Oshima Joun, a master of casting, passed away at his home in Takinogawa, Tokyo on January 4th. He was 83 years old. His real name was Katsujiro, and he was born in Koishikawa, Edo on February 2nd, Ansei 5. He studied the wax mold and casting carving techniques under his father, Kojiro. He exhibited "Ryujin" at the 2nd National Industrial Exhibition in Meiji 14, and thereafter exhibited at the Tokyo Carving Association, the Japan Art Association, the Tokyo Casting Association, etc. He received a gold medal for "Inaho Gunsu" exhibited at the Paris World Exposition in 33. Prior to this, he was employed by the Tokyo Fine Arts School in 23, and was appointed as a professor of the same school in Taisho 7, guiding the younger generation until Showa 7.
