In 1987, "Miyagi Traditional Kokeshi" was designated as a "Traditional Craft Product" by the government. Our workshop produces "Togatta-style traditional kokeshi dolls," which originated in Togatta Onsen (hot spring) at the foot of Mount Zao. After training in kokeshi doll making, Masahiro studied the art of "woodturning," the origin of kokeshi craftsmanship, and trained in Nikko. He creates various items, from everyday goods like trays and tea caddies to tea ceremony utensils such as natsume (tea caddies) and kogo (incense containers).
