I was able to record and play back TV broadcasts. DVDs could also be played. The remote control also worked. The DVD tray open/close switch is slow to respond, and sometimes it takes a while to open. The small cover on the remote control cannot be locked. This is an old model with some issues, so it is being sold as a junk item without warranty. Please understand this before purchasing.
