Tamaki, 1,076m above sea level, at the southern end of the Omine mountain range, and is said to have been visited by Emperor Jimmu on his way to the east. The shrine was founded in 37 BC during the reign of Emperor Sujin, the 10th emperor, to enshrine Hayatama no Kami for the protection of the royal castle and the exorcism of demons.
