This is the Beyond Clothing PCU Level 7 PrimaLoft Vest. It's an item made for the US military's Special Operations Forces as part of the PCU (Protective Combat Uniform). It uses PrimaLoft (about 8 times warmer than down), jointly developed by ALBANY and the US military. Despite its moderate volume, it offers the highest level of insulation in the PCU layering system, LEVEL 7. You don't have to worry about feathers coming out like with down, and it's easy to wash, which is very appealing. It's thin yet highly insulating, and can also be used as an inner layer, making it a versatile item.
