This is a small spoon, 105mm in length. It appears that the entire bowl was gilded, but the gold on the raised areas has mostly worn off, revealing the sterling silver underneath. This spoon has elaborate and beautiful decorations. There is a hallmark on the back of the bowl. Based on the hallmark, it seems to have been made in Birmingham, England in 1896, during the late Victorian era. The lion passant hallmark indicates that the material is sterling silver.
