This is a piece I recently acquired at auction. It's a beautiful natural stone inkstone from the Duanxi Meihua Pit in China, I believe. It features a lovely carving of a pine tree and I think it's a very fine piece. It appears to have been made to commemorate the bestowal of an honor on a prominent person, and it seems relatively new and carefully finished, presented in a gift box. It's a very nice piece, but if you're concerned about the inscription commemorating the honor, you could probably remove it with a bit of sandpaper or a whetstone. I'm offering it at this low price. What do you think?
