Extremely rare, made in Japan ESP PJ bass M-IV. A fantastic bass! According to my research, this is a Made in Japan M-IV, produced in small quantities from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. This was a time when ESP's reputation was very high, not just in Japan but worldwide. The build quality and sound are indeed superb. The pickup configuration allows you to get both Precision Bass and Jazz Bass tones. The center mix position, in particular, has a satisfying sound when playing. As expected from ESP, the neck construction and pickups are top-notch. The excellent, clear sound will captivate you. While I don't have documentation, from what I can see: Alder body, maple neck, rosewood fretboard with 21 frets. The hardware is excellent, featuring a high-mass bridge and stable open-gear tuners. The back of the body has some paint cracks, but it's in good condition overall. This is an extremely rare instrument that you won't see often. Please consider it. Body cleaning and waxing have been done. The fretboard has been polished with orange oil. The frets, in particular, have been polished to a shine. String height is set to a suitable low action. The truss rod has room for adjustment in both directions. Please adjust the string height if necessary. Each pickup is functioning correctly. Volume and tone controls have no noticeable crackling. Strings were replaced with new D'Addario strings on December 19, 2025! Ready to play immediately. A sturdy gig bag case is included. The instrument will be shipped in the case with bubble wrap.
