There are three black spots on the cups & saucers (Photos 14-16). These black spots are iron particles, which are formed by the oxidation of iron contained in the clay during firing. They are considered a natural part of the pottery's appearance and are generally treated as a sign of quality. One of the cake plates has two small indentations that appear to have been made during the manufacturing process (Photo 17). These items are very old and have been stored at home for a long time. There is some fading and wear due to aging (Photos 18-20). We appreciate your understanding as these are Showa-retro antique items. Please refrain from purchasing if you are looking for perfection like a brand-new item purchased in a store, or if you are overly concerned about minor imperfections.
