This is a handmade product. It is not plated, so it does not have the texture of metal, but it is made with a metallic gold-colored mold. As it is not a machine-made product, there may be slight chips or unevenness. The plating on the Samurai Edge grip medallion tends to peel easily, but this one is molded in gold, so the gold part will not peel.
