This bag was made by deconstructing a black formal kimono (kuro-tomesode). It has a round, cute design. It makes a satisfying "snap" sound when opening and closing. A stiff interfacing has been applied to the outer fabric. Due to the nature of the kuro-tomesode, where the pattern is mainly on the hem, the pattern cannot be the same on both sides. Only one of these patterned bags could be made from a single kimono. The lining fabric uses the black part of the silk kimono fabric. The bottom board is also made of the same material. The metal fittings and the body are not attached with adhesive, so they are securely attached and will not come off. The thread used is a durable thread used for making leather bags, so it is so strong that your hand would be cut if you tried to cut it by hand.
