Onomichi's local toy, the Tamabune (rice paddy boat). Boys' Festival Episode: The Tamabune, with a 160-year tradition, reflects the frequent arrival and departure of Sengoku-sen (large cargo ships) in the trading port of Onomichi. To celebrate the loading of rice onto these ships, August 1st was designated as the Tamano Sekku (rice paddy festival) to celebrate a bountiful harvest.
