Kazuo Iwamura Born in Tokyo in 1939. Graduated from the Department of Crafts, Tokyo University of the Arts. His main works include "14 Hikino's Breakfast" (Picture Book Nippon Award) and other books in the "14 Hikino series," the collaborative picture book with Eric Carle, "Where Are You Going? To See My Friend!" (Doshinsha / USA, Parents' Choice Award), "The Lonely Last Train" (Kaiseisha / Sankei Children's Publishing Culture Award), "Kangaeru Kaeru-kun" (Fukuinkan Shoten / Kodansha Publishing Culture Award Picture Book Award), the "Togari Yama no Boken" series, and the "Yuhi no Oka no Nakama" series (Rironsha). In 1998, he opened the "Kazuo Iwamura Picture Book Hill Museum" in Bato-machi, Tochigi Prefecture (now Nakagawa-machi), and continues to be active with the themes of picture books, nature, and children. He lives in Mashiko-machi, Tochigi Prefecture.
