I thought it was interesting, so I left them on. As it was used on ferry boats and rocky shores, there are some scratches and dirt, but I cleaned it after each fishing trip, so the rod case still feels clean. There is no smell of chum. There are no breaks or serious damage. The zippers open and close smoothly because I applied silicone spray. It has a lot of storage, with two dividers and a removable mini pouch, making it very convenient. The mini pouch is a little dirty, but it's hardly noticeable when attached to the Velcro inside.
