The two-stage switch allows you to choose between shower mode and a shower mode that focuses on the center. It's convenient because you can also stop the water flow with the button on the back. Personally, I like the fine spray of the shower itself, but I'm selling it because I bought a new one. I used it for about a year, but there are no noticeable stains.
