◇ Takabatake Shikibu Poet of the late Edo and Meiji periods. After the death of her husband, she remarried Kiyone Takabatake, an acupuncturist who frequented the Chigusa family in Kyoto. She studied poetry under Kageki Kagawa and Arimichi Chigusa. She was also skilled in calligraphy, painting, and sculpture. She was from Ise (Matsusaka, Mie Prefecture). Her maiden name was Ishii, her given name was Tomi, and her pen name was Shikibu. Other pen names: Mugi no Ya. Born into a merchant family in Matsusaka, Ise Province.
