A small (2-3cm) ceramic figurine traditionally placed inside the Galette des Rois, a pastry eaten in France on the Epiphany in January. The person who finds the fève in their slice of cake is said to have good luck for the year. "Fève" means broad bean. In the past, broad beans were placed in the Galette des Rois instead of ceramic figurines, which is how these small ceramic figurines came to be called fèves.
