Ikkan-bari is a technique where washi paper is layered onto wooden or bamboo vessels, and then finished with persimmon tannin, sesame oil, or lacquer. It is said to have been taught by the Chinese lacquerer Ikkan, or that it was originated by Ikkan-sai in Japan.
