Regarding the thickness of saxophone reeds: - Beginners typically use "2 1/2" - As you improve, you move to "3 1/2" ...or so it goes. After much trial and error, I've found that thinner reeds produce better sound quality. Moreover, you can use all the reeds in the box. This is very economical and environmentally friendly.
