Kumagoro, his older brother figure, involves the timid paper scrap dealer Kyuroku, and together they go to the landlord's house, hoping to get some food and drink in lieu of a condolence offering. Kumagoro makes the corpse dance to the song "Kankan-nou." Kumagoro successfully gets sake and clothes, and begins drinking with Kyuroku, but the drunken Kyuroku becomes increasingly assertive...
