This is a six-hole shinobue flute, inscribed "Kin-saku" (Master Craftsman Sato Kin-saku). It was purchased by an acquaintance on an auction site and has been repaired. The seventh hole has been repaired with natural putty, and the rattan binding has been painted with red lacquer and adorned with metal foil (likely copper foil), making for a beautiful shinobue. The fingering is standard. With my skill, I could produce clean notes up to Dai-kan 3, but notes above Dai-kan 4 were only raspy.
