The Ushioni appears in the Uwajima Festival, resembling a long-necked ox. Carried by dozens of people, it parades through the town, the star of this fantastical summer festival. During the festival, it sticks its head into each house to ward off evil spirits. This papier-mâché figure is a miniature version of the Ushioni, and you can play with it by moving the bamboo skewers inside its neck. -- It still looks pretty good at first glance, but it's an old item, so it's being sold with some scratches and stains.
