[The following is the description that was written at the time of purchase.] The new US Army ECWCS Generation III (GEN III) is a system consisting of 7 types of tops and 5 types of bottoms, designed to cope with various climates and situations. This Level 7 is the final cold weather outer layer, and PrimaLoft is used as the inner layer. It is a high-tech material using polyester, which is said to be about 8 times warmer than down. The main feature is that, unlike down jackets, there are no feathers flying out and it does not require much care. It can be washed in a washing machine and is lightweight and soft. The functionality returns with washing if the waterproof and breathable properties decrease.
