Each shakuhachi bag's capacity (length and thickness) varies depending on the individual piece. Length: Approximately 72.5 cm (when unfolded) Width: Approximately 10.2 cm This bag is designed for a shakuhachi with a diameter of 5 cm and a total length of 54-55 cm. It might fit a 56 cm shakuhachi, but I cannot guarantee it. I don't know if a 54 cm length and 5 cm diameter is standard for shakuhachi. I don't own a shakuhachi, so I cannot answer questions about whether it will fit. The top and bottom fabric gussets will be affected by the diameter of the shakuhachi. Even if the total length of the instrument is long, if it has a diameter, the gussets will prevent it from fitting. As a size reference, I have photographed an unopened mini juice can (approximately 5.2 cm in diameter) in the third photo. Please consider the photos as a reference only.
