This is an 8-sun Nagoya obi, carefully crafted by Mori Hakata Ori, a long-established Hakata-ori textile maker known for its high-quality craftsmanship. Hakata-ori is made by tightly weaving thick weft threads, which are made by combining several threads, with many warp threads. Because of the high density of the warp threads and the careful weaving, it has a unique thickness and firmness, and is characterized by the "kyu" sound of silk when the obi is tied. Based on a plain weave fabric, the patterns are created with warp threads called "ukitate," so when tied, the warp threads create friction with each other, making it difficult to loosen and allowing for a secure tie. Please experience the unique firmness of Hakata-ori and the feeling of a snug fit. This series features the classic striped pattern of Hakata-ori, woven in combination with various patterns.
