The inspiration for this piece came when my 5-year-old daughter suddenly said, "Cats are protecting this child." The white Nekomata represents a gentle presence that brings good fortune and harmony. The black Nekomata quietly protects and wards off negativity. The Zashiki-warashi in the middle is depicted as a presence that subtly appears in places where "good fortune lingers" for the house and its inhabitants. The cherry blossoms symbolize: * New beginnings * The flow of connections * Gentle changes The entire artwork is finished to create an atmosphere of "being protected while the flow gently aligns."
