# End-of-Life Book Collection: Organization Yoshio Sakurai, Jinbun Shoin This collection of essays, the author's first in a while, explores the fervor of the medieval period, encompassing not only documents and records, but also traditions, actions, sounds, and forms, from the perspective that even these elements tell history, including picture scrolls, temple and shrine origins, performing arts, and setsuwa storytelling, while addressing the issue of the formation of the state (community). It seeks to explore the possibility of historical narratives not tied to the monarchy-state.
